Media personality Minnie Dlamini has lifted the lid on allegations that she was financially supporting her husband Quinton Jones during their marriage.
This comes weeks after reports that Jones has requested a R10 000 monthly spousal support from the television presenter-turned-producer.
In an interview on YouTuber Lasizwe Dambuza’s new show Awkward Dates, Dlamini also confirmed that her divorce, which she announced in 2022, is underway.
The media personality took jabs at her estranged husband when asked how she feels about taking care of a man.
At the beginning of the 32-minute interview, Dambuza asks Dlamini if he can be her Ben Ten (younger boyfriend), to which Dlamini responds: “I can totally do the rich auntie vibe”.
She adds that she has been doing it for years.
In September, online news site Zimoja reported that Jones is claiming spousal support from the media personality and wants custody of their child in their ongoing divorce hearing.
Minnie Dlamini married Jones in 2017 and gave the country a front-row seat to the wedding celebration in a three-part series titled Becoming Mrs Jones, which was aired on streaming site Showmax.
In a joint statement in February 2022, Dlamini and Jones announced that they were parting ways.
In March 2023, Dlamini opened up about the failed marriage in an interview with 702 presenter Relebogile Mabotja during her afternoon talk show.
“I felt like I had to reduce myself in so many ways, and I wasn’t able to live the best version of myself,” she said at the time.
“I feel like a marriage should never be something that clips your wings, but should be something that allows you to grow a second pair.”
She added that she had ignored the red flags in her relationship.
“In relationships, you always know, you know when you look back, that was a red flag,” she said, adding that she was not to blame.
