Kairo Forbes, the daughter of DJ Zinhle and the late rapper Kiernan Forbes, popularly known as AKA, recently won a Nickelodeon award.
The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, also known as the KCAs or Kids’ Choice, are an annual American awards ceremony show produced by Nickelodeon.
Kairo, who was nominated at the 45th annual Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2024 (KCA). She was in the category for Favourite African Kidfluencer.
Nine-year-old Kairo is a young mogul in the making who has her own watch brand and jewellery line. She is considered one of South Africa’s most bankable children.
Second award in two years
In 2023, she was named the “Social Media Kid Influencer of The Year” at the South African Social Media Awards.
The youngster took to social media to gush about her award. She thanked Nickelodeon for the nomination and congratulated her fellow nominees.
“Thank you to my family and everyone who voted for me. I am very happy and I appreciate your support. [Also], I hope that I inspire other kids to have dreams and that they have family that will support their dreams. Thank you, God for all your blessings. This one is for you, Daddy,” wrote Kairo.
In 2019, her late father, AKA, won the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards for Favourite SA Star. He became the first rapper to win the award.
Back then, Kairo melted fans’ hearts in an Instagram video asking the South African public to vote for her dad.
“It gives me great pride to accept this @nickelodeon KIDS CHOICE AWARD on behalf of my daughter @kairo.forbes and all of the megacy. Thank You so much for all the votes. I cannot stress how important it is to have the young ones still rocking with me as their #1 after 10 + years in the game,” wrote AKA at the time.
