Lebo M in court to defend estranged wife’s protection order

Musician, songwriter and producer Lebohang “Lebo M” Morake appeared in the Randburg magistrate’s court on Tuesday seeking to defend a protection order instituted by his estranged wife Pretty Samuels-Morake.

The matter returns to the magistrate’s court on December 5.

This follows Lebo M’s decision to bar Samuels-Morake from his Waterfall home after a breakdown of the couple’s marriage.

“It’s unfortunate that Mrs Morake allowed matters to spiral to this extent when all I proposed was a separation in order to evaluate issues prior to entering into counseling and mediation,” said Lebo M after the postponement.

In August, the producer of Lion King, the animated musical drama, shared that he was heading to court to file for divorce.

He feared, according to Lebo M, that Samuels-Morake had taken life policies in his name using his digital signature.

Lebo M released a statement stating that an outstanding affidavit from Samuels-Morake was the reason he approached his legal team to file for divorce.

The divorce matter is currently sitting with the estranged couple’s respective attorneys in order to resolve the matter as he, to date, has not received the affidavit he requested on July 8.

Lebo M alleged that the affidavit stated that there are no policies that Samuels-Morake is aware of.

The affidavit stated that the acclaimed musician would not be affected upon his death, and that Samuels-Morake and others would be beneficiaries.

The Lion King composer was married to Viveca Gipson for five years. He divorced her and married Nandi Ndlovu whom he stayed with for 11 years.

He then divorced Ndlovu and married Angela Ngani-Casara for a period of five years from 2008 to 2013.

He was also engaged to actress Zoe Mthiyane, however, their union crumbled in 2016.

Lebo M remarried his third wife Ngani-Casara and divorced again in 2017. In April 2021, he got engaged to Samuels-Morake.
