Former Generations: The Legacy actress Letoya Makhene-Pulumo was escorted by two police vans to fetch her belongings from the family home of her partner in Mohlakeng after an alleged altercation with her lover, Lebogang Pulumo-Makhene last month.
This after the thespian was allegedly beaten almost to a pulp by Lebogang, which forced her to cut her signature dreadlocks.
The alleged violent incident also allegedly left Letoya with two shiners and a punctured lung.
So serious was the tiff that Letoya is said to have almost filed for divorce with the assistance of her relatives.
She also almost got Lebogang thrown behind bars after she briefed her lawyer to first open a criminal case against Lebogang.
After their fight, Lebogang told Letoya that she would resign from all her companies and pull out of the music concert she was organising in Pretoria.
The explosive details were revealed by the couple’s relatives who do not approve of the domestic violence that has characterised the union.
According to a relative who did not want to be named, Letoya told them that Lebogang violently assaulted her and that she sustained injuries below her eyes and a lung at the beginning of last month.
After the fight, Letoya bolted out of their love nest and went to hide in the house of one of her associates in Springs, on the East Rand.
The next of kin said so bruised was Letoya that they had to heavily plaster her with make-up to conceal the injuries when she attended the premiere of a television show in Joburg.
The relative said so aggrieved was Letoya that she implored her relatives to find her a lawyer to file for divorce.
“They organised and paid a lawyer for her, who took her statement.
“Before the consultation, Letoya wanted the lawyer to help her press criminal charges against Lebogang and he agreed. But she changed and wormed her way back to the arms of Lebogang and this has incensed her family.”
Speaking to Sunday World on Thursday, the couple feigned ignorance and denied it was involved in an altercation that saw the police at their doorstep, stating that one of their siblings might have called the men in blue on that day.
A police officer, who did not want to be named, confirmed that they visited Lebogang’s home to fetch Letoya’s clothes.
Letoya said: “I am not aware of any incident like that.
“I have initiates here at my home. So my home is very sacred and peaceful. We respect ancestors. If I backtrack to the date, I have sisters who look exactly like me. It could have been my sister Gontse.”
Lebogang added that they were still happy in their marriage and invited anyone who wished to come and see for themselves.
