Mavimbela revealed as muse of last book of ‘Hlomu’ series

The Wife lead actress Mbalenhle Mavimbela is the cover of the last book of the Hlomu series, The End, which is written by author Dudu Busani-Dube and will be available at all book stores this week.

Busani-Dube is the author of the popular self-published novels including Hlomu the Wife, Zandile the Resolute, Naledi his Love, Mess and Iqunga which have sold tens of thousands of copies.

She started writing Hlomu the Wife in 2015 and later shared the excerpts with friends, asking for help in editing the book. Instead they got hooked and urged her to continue writing the story.

She then decided to self-publish, and after a few false starts, she began selling the books from the boot of her car.

Today Busani-Dube is one of the few self-published authors to claim bestseller status in South Africa, and fans are eagerly waiting for the sixth and final book in the Hlomu series.

In 2021, her books grew from a self-published project into an inspiration for a widely popular series with a massive following and a deal with Showmax.

Mavimbela played the role of Hlomu, a journalist who falls in love with a taxi driver in season one up until season three.

The books, centred around the lives of eight Zulu brothers from Greytown in KwaZulu-Natal, tell love stories through the eyes of the wives who fall in love with the tall, dark and dangerous brothers
