More greats honoured with Hollywood star on Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has announced that longtime RnB greats including Toni Braxton and Brandy will be honoured with a Hollywood star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. 

Other notables are Sheryl Lee Ralph, Gwen Stefani, Gal Gadot, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Chris Pine, Christina Ricci, Ken Jeong, Eugene Levy, Mario Lopez, Jane Krakowski and Angie Martinez. 

A surprise announcement was that of Otis Redding, who received a posthumous honour. Redding is best known for the classic (Sitting On) The Dock Of The Bay. 

In a statement radio personality Ellen K, who was on hand to unveil the names, said: “The selection committee, which is made up of fellow walk of famers, carefully hand-picks a group of honourees each year that represent various genres of the entertainment world.

“The committee did an amazing job choosing these very talented people. We cannot wait to see each honouree’s reaction as they realize that they are becoming a part of Hollywood’s history with the unveiling of their star on the world’s most famous walkway.” 

In addition, the class of 2024 honorees includes rapper Dr Dre, Gwen Stefani, Chris Pine, Eugene Levy, Kerry Washington, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Angie Martinez, Mýa, Bille Jean King and others.
 
The late Tupac Amaru Shakur, famously known as 2Pac, one of the most iconic and influential rappers of all time, is among the stars who will finally features on the walk of fame.
 
His sister Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur accepted the honour at a ceremony earlier in June, saying it was the rapper’s dream from the age of 13 to see his star on the walkway. 
 
The late actor Chadwick Boseman will also be posthumously inducted under the Motion Pictures category.
 
Globally acclaimed songstress Rihanna paid tribute to his life and legacy with the Oscar-nominated song Lift Me Up featured in the latest Black Panther: Wakanda Forever film.
