Ordained pastor Thinah Zungu apologises for sex scenes on TV

Award-winning gospel music sensation and newly ordained pastor Thinah Zungu has apologised to his supporters and Christians for his role in the new telenovela Mother of All.

On the show, Zungu portrays the character of Malusi and engages in sexual intercourse. The telenovela is screened on e.tv’s streaming platform VOD.

On Tuesday, the Kwanqaba Umusa singer said he accepted the TV role before being ordained as a pastor.

Apology to followers

“Greetings, I would like to apologise to all those who find the role that I’m playing as Malusi in the new telenovela, Mother of All, inappropriate.

“I filmed the show before I became a pastor. As a creative, I was invited and I played the role,” said Zungu.

He added that even though the show started airing recently, he is apologetic because he has since been ordained as a pastor and is a leader of a church.

“To all those who say I love money, yes I do love money, and there is nothing wrong with that. Yes, I got paid to play in the story.

“[The] bottom line is that I am sorry to everyone who was disturbed by some of the scenes that I am playing.”

Move on, it is fiction
Thinah Zungu explained to his followers that the story is a fiction and is not a true reflection of who he is in real life.

“The show is a nice production and it is a beautiful telenovela to watch, the biggest mistake is that the show played as I serve as a pastor,” he said.

“I knew the role was going to bring a lot of talk, however, I would like for everyone to move on. I do not want to see a comment about it anymore.”

He thanked his fans who understand his TV role. “God bless all those who understood the whole thing, it is a story and we were acting.”

The telenovela also features former Generations actress Zenande Mfenyana and former Scandal! actress Thandeka Nodada.
