Renowned podcaster Penuel Mlotshwa is being accused by the mother of his two children of being a woman basher and a love rat who impregnated three belles behind her back.
She also accused him of being patriarchal and a misogynist, who believes that women are the “contracted sex workers” of their partners.
The baby mama, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the children, also accused him of encouraging his children to bear their own children before they reach the age of 16.
The riveting titbits are contained in the urgent papers she filed in the Joburg High Court in which she seeks a court order to allow her to move with the kids to Brazil without Mlotshwa’s consent.
In the court papers, which we have seen, the woman said she and Mlothswa started dating in 2010 when she was about to complete her degree at the University of Johannesburg.
After a few rolls in the hay, she said, Mlotshwa knocked her up shortly after their relationship commenced and she gave birth to their first child the same year.
She said when she graduated in April 2012, Mlotshwa quit his job at Absa to start a fish and chips business, which failed in less than six months.
“In July 2012, after the respondent physically abused me, I moved to my parents’ home in Fourways. At this stage, the respondent was involved in a relationship with another woman, [name withheld, whom he impregnated,” reads her affidavit. She said [name withheld] miscarried the child and obtained a protection order against him.
“I know this because I was copied on emails between [name withheld] and the respondent relating to the issues and which stated as much,” reads her affidavit.
She said in September that year she secured an online English job and later rekindled her love with Mlothswa, who sired a second child with her.
She said while she was pregnant with their second child, it came to her attention that Mlothswa had made another woman, [name withheld] pregnant.
“Our financial difficulties including payment of arrears of rent continued while we lived in the respondent’s student apartment,” stated the affidavit.
She said Mlothswa’s mother Danisile “Mamsie” Mlothswa contributed a third of her early retirement pension payment to the podcaster in order to assist him lighten their dire financial situation.
She said after she secured another job as a writing assistant, Mlotshwa pursued a relationship with another woman named Melba Nkosi, who was living two doors down from their apartment.
“I would take care of the children on my own while the respondent slept at her apartment, which was often,” reads the affidavit.
She said when an opportunity arose for her to teach in South Korea, she grabbed it to earn a better income and also to extricate herself from toxic relationship with Mlotshwa.
She said she farmed the children out to Mlotshwa’s mother in Newcastle in KwaZulu-Natal and sent maintenance money to them when she was abroad.
She said got a job in China at an international school that offers private tuition for free for her children and Mlotshwa consented to the children moving there in 2019 for two years, with the proviso that they would review their agreement after that period.
She said she now got a job in Brazil, which will pay her an annual bonus of $10 000 and asked Mlothswa to consent to her relocating with the children there to start schooling next month, but he refused.
She said his refusal emanates from his belief in home schooling because he often told them to focus on making money and to return to South Africa and work.
“He also tells them that they should bear children of their own before they turn sixteen,” reads the affidavit.
She also attached a text message purported to be from Mlothswa in which he spewed misogynistic bile. “A woman should only receive a girlfriend allowance if she cooks, cleans and sews the laundry for the man, helps babysit the man’s external children, she is a contracted sex worker”
She wants the court to grant her permission to relocate to Brazil with the children.
