Pub apologises after Lwa Ndlunkulu ditched gig for Metro awards

Music sensation and current vocal “it girl,” Lwa Ndlunkulu, ditched her performance at a top pub in Gauteng to attend the Metro FM Awards in Mpumalanga at the weekend.

Slotjhile Pub and Shisanyama in Thembisa, east of Johannesburg, allegedly paid the singer in full to secure her performance at its 7th annual birthday celebration.

However, Lwa Ndlunkulu failed to attend the gig.

The establishment was forced to apologise to irate patrons and fans after they paid a fortune to come and see the Ithuba hitmaker perform.

However, the patrons were shocked to see her on TV walking the black carpet at the Metro FM Awards held in Mbombela.

The pub apologises unreservedly

In statement released by the pub, the management claimed that Lwa Ndlunkulu, real name Lwandile Mtshali, and other artists who were booked in advance chose to ditch their performances for an appearance at the awards.

“We would like to apologise unreservedly for the inconvenience caused by artists showing up late and [some artists’ failure to show up for their performances] at our birthday event.

“Lwa Ndlunkulu was one of the headliners who ditched the event to attend the awards, while Master KG arrived late. Limpopo musician Kharishma also did not pitch for her performance.

“Please note that, as a business, we are unfortunately not in control of the artists’ turn of events even though we have paid and secured a booking with them.

“We thank you for your continuous support, and we sincerely apologise.”

Artist of the year award

The Metro FM Awards were held in Nelspruit on Saturday night.

Lwa Ndlunkulu, who was clad in a black and leopard print dress, walked away with the gong for artist of the year.

The singer took to the stage to thank her fans. “I’d like to thank God, Big Zulu, Leeroy, and my fans,” said Lwa Ndlunkulu.

She was not immediately available to comment about her failure to honour a booking to perform at the pub.
