The South African Film & Television Awards (SAFTA) has handed flowers to radio host, producer and actress Relebogile Mabotja for her stellar producing skills.
This after she successfully produced the Miss South Africa 2022 live finale.
Competing with two other shows, In Die Kollig Met and Noot vir Noot, Mabotja walked away with the golden horn for the Best Entertainment Programme.
The former Rhythm City actress attended the awards ceremony with Miss South Africa 2022, Ndavi Nokeri, at the weekend.
She said the win comes full circle as she also produced the 2023 installment of the Miss South Africa pageant.
“My heart is so full. So much goes on behind the scenes to put together a live show of this calibre,” she shared.
“Thirty years ago, I watched Basetsana Khumalo waving as the reigning Miss South Africa and I thought to myself that one day I would be Miss South Africa. God had a different plan and said I am not going to be Miss South Africa instead I will produce the show,” she added, beaming with pride.
She revealed that she produced the show with her production company, Black Swan Media.
“It truly takes as village and I’m grateful for this honour. My business partner Bruce, thank you so much for holding me down. I get to be great at producing because of you,” said Mabotja.
Recently, Mabotja celebrated two decades in the arts & entertainment industry and she continues to prove that she’s earned her stripes as a leading figure across multiple disciplines.
“I must be honest, I never envisioned a 20-year career in the industry, especially not as it is right now.
“I hoped it would work out, but I could never have dreamt my career would have panned out this way. It’s truly humbling to be celebrating 20 years at the height of my career,” she said.
