Sensational dancer Musa Motha returns to warm SA welcome

Britain’s Got Talent finalist Musa Motha returned home on Saturday.

The sensational dancer was warmly welcomed by his family, friends and members of the Emfuleni Municipality at the OR Tambo International Airport.

Motha’s name will be written in the books of history as the first-ever contestant on the show to get a group golden buzzer.

Upon arriving at the show, Motha said the reaction from the crowd after his audition caught him off guard.

“My intention was just to go and just do the auditions and let it be heard,” he told the media.

The 27-year-old, whose leg was amputated at the age of 10 after he was diagnosed with bone cancer, said being the first one to get a group golden buzzer is one of his proudest moments.

“When I went for my auditions, I had forgotten my dance shoes and I was stressed but things went accordingly.”

He, however, didn’t win the finale, which was taken by Norwegian comedian Viggo Venn.

He said at the time: “In life we focus more on the future and don’t realise we are in the middle of what we prayed for. Just last night I was avoiding to check my socials because I felt like I have failed the world by not winning the @bgt even not making it to the top 3/2, but then I have realised how blessed I am to have reach so many hearts and my mission is complete. Thank you to @bgt for the opportunity. And guess what??? Today we won an award for the Emerging Artist. Thank you National Dance Awards for this beautiful award and recognition. Big shoutout to @viggovenn , he is amazing and he deserves the win.”

Meanwhile, Motha’s mother Ntokozo Motha said she is speechless by the support her son has received from the country.

“I am very proud of my son, he did a good job and I thank God for that. I am a proud mother because of him, not many children can reach where he has reached and that makes me proud of him.”

Executive mayor of Emfuleni Sipho Hadebe, who was also at the welcoming, showered the dancer with words of encouragement.

“We do not know the difficulties his mother faced when she was raising Musa but we are celebrating him today. We are proud of him as the municipality,” added Hadebe.
