Shebeshxt scheduled to appear in court for attempted murder

Popular musician “Shebeshxt” is expected to appear in court on Friday for attempted murder.

Shebeshxt, born Katlego Chauke, was scheduled to appear in court last week Thursday but his case was postponed after he appeared in absentia.

Musician has been unwell

The Limpopo National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, said the matter was postponed after the singer’s legal representatives indicated to the court that he was not well.

She said the Monateng hitmaker was expected to appear in court on Friday and provide a sick note.

“The accused, Lehlogonolo Chauke ‘Shebeshxt’, has appeared in absentia at Lebowakgomo Regional Court for pre-trial on a count of attempted murder.

“The accused could not attend court proceedings due to his sickness. The court postponed the matter to  July 19 2024, to enable him to provide a medical certificate to show his inability to attend court,” Malabi-Dzhangi added.

Out on bail

The musician is scheduled to appear in court for a case that was opened against him in 2022.

According to Malabi-Dzhangi, the singer is currently out on bail and will be in court for trial.

Malabi-Dzhangi previously told Sunday World that a case was opened against Chauke after he allegedly stabbed a man in Lebowakgomo.

This would be the first time the singer makes a public appearance after his release from the hospital.

Shebeshxt survived a fatal car accident in Limpopo two weeks ago, which claimed the life of his nine-year-old daughter.

He was travelling to his girlfriend’s home, where he was going to drop her and his daughter off, before making his way to an ANC Siyanqoba rally celebration concert in Lebowakgomo when the musician’s car collided with a truck.
