Musician
Lehlogonolo “Shebeshxt” Chauke will be able to attend his daughter’s funeral on Saturday following special arrangements with the hospital where he is being treated.
Family spokesperson and the musician’s lawyer, Lot Ramusi, confirmed the matter to Sunday World. He said that the family has requested Shebeshxt’s medical team to release him from the hospital on Saturday. This so that he can attend his daughter’s funeral. He will return to the medical institution after the ceremony.
Shebeshxt survived a fatal car accident in Limpopo on Saturday night. The accident claimed the life of his nine-year-old daughter Onthatile.
No longer in a critical condition
Ramusi said the singer is no longer in critical care and has been moved from the hospital’s intensive care unit.
“He is out of the ICU and has a moonboot on his leg. Shebeshxt is recovering quite well. He can talk, and he can actually even stand up. His focus is just on his recovery.”
Shebeshxt was traveling to his girlfriend’s home, where he was going to drop her and his daughter off. He was then going to make his way to an ANC Siyanqoba rally celebration concert in Lebowakgomo. That was when the musician’s car collided with a truck.
Ramusi said the family will make arrangements with the hospital for the musician to be at the funeral.
“We are going to make arrangements with the hospital. For them to take him there and bring him back after the funeral,” he said.
Ramusi could not reveal if the funeral would be private or public. This follows an outpouring of public support from the musician’s fans.
Police reached out to musician as part of investigations
He also said that the police have reached out to the musician to get a J88 form. The form determines the extent of his injuries. This in order to investigate the driver of the truck his vehicle collided with.
Ramusi said police also reached out to the musician for statements. But they have not said they were investigating him for his daughter’s passing.
“He will only give them that statement next week after the funeral,” he said.
