Thando Thabethe’s colourful acting career gets another shine

Actress and radio presenter Thando Thabethe added another gong in her cabinet when she scooped an award for Best Actress in a TV Comedy.

Thabethe won the award for her role on How To Ruin Christmas: The Baby Shower season three at the 2023 South African Film and Television Awards.

Thabethe, who was also nominated for Best Actress in a TV Drama for season three of Housekeepers, expressed gratitude to throngs of her fans and colleagues for their support.

“I’m excited about this award and more so thankful to the fans who support our work. This feels so good. I want to thank the producers and my colleagues for this honour.” she said.

“We worked very hard, so to receive this is truly special. To have been nominated for two lead roles on two very different shows is also a big highlight for me.”

Taking to social media on Sunday, Thabethe opened up about how season three of How To Ruin Christmas: The Baby Shower was special to her.

She said the show taught her how to laugh through some of the greatest pain.

“The birthing scene for one, was one of the most challenging … we shot it on the 28th of June, my late brother’s birthday,” she wrote.

“I was very much in my feels … but you @ferry_jele held my hand through that day, and on this day I learnt what it means to take your pain and turn it into art, comedy even.”
