Thembinkosi Mthembu, who rose to prominence after landing a big role on The River and feautured on Shaka Ilembe remains grounded amid his rising star.
Mthembu, who has also won the hearts of many when he featured in Showmax Original shows Outlaws and Adulting second season, said besides fame and success, his main focus is on his work.
He said working back to back on various projects has helped him hone his craft.
“When need be, I do go out and I do appreciate all the love I’ve been receiving from the public,” Mthembu said.
“I’m happy that after all these years, the hard work is seen and appreciated.”
The Adulting lead actor, who won the Hunk of the Year award at the Feather Awards this year, said there have been outrageous requests that he has had from fans.
“Without being too detailed, I’ve had someone ask me to do to them the things I do in bed with other female characters.”
Pressure to set new record
Following the success of Adulting season one, Mthembu said there has been a bit of pressure to set a new record for the second season of the Showmax drama series.
“I do believe that season two will do it justice. Viewers are going to be blown away by the journey that each character is going to embark on.
“I’m also especially excited about my storyline. There is a lot that viewers will get to learn about Bonga [the character he portrays], as he begins to learn and unlearn the many facets of his life,” he said.
Mthembu said the reunion with the rest of the team for the upcoming second season has been a great experience.
“We really get along, which makes getting into the swing of things and the brotherhood we’re portraying much easier for us.
“When we started working on season two, we had the same conversation we had when we stepped on set for season one.
“That conversation was all about ensuring that we give our all to this project. This is our baby and we are going to give it all the attention and care it deserves in order for the new season to be as successful as the first one.”
