Ukhozi FM radio presenter, actress, and recording artist Phindile Phewa, also known as Phindi P, won an international award recently.
Taking to her social media pages a few days ago, Phindi P expressed her gratitude for winning the female soloist gong at the Texas Gospel Music Excellence Award (TGMEA).
She has worked for two local radio stations, Imbokodo 96.8 FM and Highway 101.5 FM, and is currently working for Ukhozi FM.
Phindi P released her very first EP album, Raising Jesus Flag, in 2018, which won best contemporary song at the Gospel Crown Music Awards 2018.
Her love for leading worship has given her the chance to sing and perform on stages alongside both domestic and foreign performers.
Among others, she has shared the stage with the likes of VaShawn Mitchell from the US.
She has also served as a backing vocalist for artists such as Mthunzi Namba, Thina Zungu, Dumi Mkokstad, and the late Sfiso Ncwane.
Betusile takes home an award
Separately, Metro FM Song of the Year winner Betusile Mcinga also bagged himself an award at the TGMEA for male soloist of the year.
The three-day awards ceremony took place from February 15-18 in Houston, Texas.
The awards are meant to honour independent gospel musicians who have excelled in their respective fields of the music industry.
“I still can’t believe it’s me who is an international winner at the Texas Gospel Music Excellence Awards in the USA,” Mcinga wrote on his social media page.
“Like Fam, people abroad know my name and support my ministry. It can only be God.
“I am currently reading the book of Matthew 23:14–30. I am learning that we need to explore our gifts and talents and invest in whatever God has given us to make more income for Him and us.
“Even if you think the talent that is given to you is small, if you use it wisely, it will double your income blessings.”
