Umkhokha: The Curse actress Sinokuhle Ngubeni, who plays Sibahle, has come forward to clear the air about her previous relationship.
Ngubeni, who was in a same-sex relationship with traditional healer Lungile Ndaba, says they nearly killed each other.
The Umkhokha actress narrated that she broke up with her partner two months ago after they had been in a relationship for two years. They got engaged a year after being together but no lobola was paid. And they were not married legally.
‘We never attempted to address or fix problems’
“Our relationship has never been perfect. In fact, it was far from it, and we never worked through anything we faced. We just pushed it to the side and carried on as if nothing ever happened.
“There is so much that has happened behind closed doors, which I do not want to talk about. A lot of tears were shed and then we had to come on social media and act like this perfect couple. It was draining. I got tired,” wrote Ngubeni.
Ngubeni further narrated how she was abused. She said she was always scared to leave because Ndaba would take one-sided videos of her in a demeaning state. The actress also shared how they left each with scars on their bodies. These include on her shoulder and back, which she got from Ndaba.
She stated that she was not coming out with this information for pity and to act like a victim. But she blames herself. Because both of them never saw anything wrong with banging each other on doors and breaking them.

“Now the rumours are both true and kind of not. I was never a lesbian. However, I …was bisexual, and she knew that. Before her, I was dating a man, and my current man’s surname is uNdlovu. It is not the one you think I would like to apologise to my colleague Kini Shandu and his wife for being dragged on things they are not part of.
Ngubeni’s colleague, Kini Shandu, plays the role of Ndlovu on Umkhokha. He shares the same surname with her mysterious boyfriend. This created an impression that she is dating Kini Shandu, who is a married man.
“I can only imagine how stressful the situation has been to them. And I take full responsibility, especially for not clearing the rumours quickly. The Ndlovu mentioned in the video is not Kini Shandu. It is a different one, but I won’t be bullied into revealing who he is or what his name is. As I would like my relationship to stay as private as it is.”
