Award-winning broadcast news journalist, Athi Mtongana, has announced her departure from TV news channel Newzroom Afrika. Mtongana shared the news on her social media pages on Tuesday.
Mtongana has over a decade of experience in the journalism industry and has also built a reputation covering a variety of topics.
Based in the Western Cape, she managed to master the skill of storytelling during her time at eNCA before joining Newzroom Afrika in 2019.
It would be remiss of me to leave without saying goodbye. 🙏🏾 pic.twitter.com/9GyJdtAKLn

After receiving touching messages from those she had been telling stories to and with, she said she was grateful for the love that she was being shown.
Athi Mtongana further reflected on her journey and thanked everyone for welcoming her into their homes.
Fellow colleague Thembekile Mrototo said: “Fabulous Athi, Thank you for being such a pleasure to work with and carving a special place for yourself on and off air.”
Actress, writer, presenter, and radio personality, Thami Ngubeni wrote: “May your paths be made clear. May success and fulfillment rise to meet you. Wherever you go, you will continue to glow and grow, daughter of the Most High God. You are blessed.”
She has not revealed, as yet, what the next chapter of her journey is.
“I still want to serve you, but this time around, it will be different, with an incredible team. Thank you for your support in advance. No, I am not floor-crossing nor am I going to be a spokesperson. Thanks,” she wrote.
