King Phalo Foundation
Mongameli Ngangelizwe (32) is passionate about fighting for the human rights of others. He is an executive member of Bloemfontein’s King Phalo Foundation, which is deeply involved in rural development. The foundation initiates programmes such as food security in the villages as well as infrastructural development. It also focuses on human resource development by launching and running an ITC, maths and science school. In his community activism, he has led many youth-focused programmes, such as sourcing bursaries for learners, and has taken up legal causes pertaining to the eviction of people. He particularly cares about issues of a lack of service delivery, which affects the livelihoods of community members. “I remain at the forefront of unlocking possibilities and, from time to time, we invite government and its leaders to come work hand in hand with community on matters affecting our society,” Ngangelizwe says.
