Dladla believes social and innovative entrepreneurship are vital ingredients that keep society together while driving its stability and prosperity. Dladla, 25, from Maqongqo, Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, is an intern at the Department of Economic Development Tourism and Environmental Affairs and her job is to ensure that the strategic objectives of the department are being achieved to serve the residents of KwaZulu-Natal. Dladla holds three degrees from the University of KwaZulu-Natal: a BA Social Science degree, a BA Social Science (Honours) and a BA Commerce (Honours). Currently, she’s pursuing a masters in Commerce at the same institution. She believes in social entrepreneurship and says it’s about identifying critical social issues and finding possible solutions to improve civil society. For her, Gift of the Givers Foundation, whose humanitarian initiatives uplift the downtrodden, is the best example. Innovative entrepreneurship is “finding solutions to a problem to generate profit”, and for her, Uber ticks all the boxes for how it “evolved the way society commutes”. Dladla is one of the two female directors of NSD Career and Training Institute, a Pietermaritzburg-based company established in 2020. The entity revamps CVs, drafts cover letters, and helps jobseekers with interview preparations. Dladla, who was born with albinism, has been a director and albinism ambassador for Nathi Youth Development Foundation since 2019. She educates and raises awareness around albinism.
