Following a job loss as a brand strategist, during the first Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, Ole Matlala says he was forced to think of something else to do with his life. He was looking for “something sustainable that could really make a difference in people’s lives and disrupt the current business landscape as I had known it up until that point”. After chatting to his two friends, Lucas and Zii, they co-founded Reslocate, an interactive online platform that connects property owners with students seeking accommodation. “The platform ensures that students get a secure and affordable shelter as they pursue higher education,” he says. “The process is simple, safe, and effortless.” Reslocate is accessible through its website or as an app download through the Google play store and Huawei app gallery. Reslocate is a game-changer in the tech and innovation field, thanks to Matlala’s resilience and vision, and willingness to partner with others to solve a common problem. Matlala, who is also a marketing director for Reslocate, is concerned about South Africa’s high unemployment rate, and the need for youngsters to access quality education. “We are currently talking to a potential partner to provide free coding lessons for students who do not have access to the necessary resources to help them go to university or college,” he adds.
