Being part of a group of artists who created murals around his city in anticipation of the 2010 Soccer World Cup in 2009 was a great stepping stone for Frans Phooko. The Capricorn TVET College Art and Design graduate participated in numerous mural art projects throughout Limpopo the following year. His efforts saw him being a finalist in the Absa L'Atelier Art Competition and the Sasol New Signatures Art Competition in 2010. "Ultimately, I took part in the First International Mural Encounter in Tzaneen in 2013 and have since worked on a few similar projects,” shares Phooko. The artist participated in the International Mural by Mail Project at the Elizabeth Jones Art Centre, in Portland, US in 2021. He was one of the top 10 muralists and artists to conceptualise the Brave Space mural project in Eersterust and the City of Tshwane. He has established an Anti-Bullying Alliance campaign to put an end to bullying by bringing together artists to create artwork, construct murals and hold workshops for children.
