Patricia Moos

Nominee's Province:
Western Cape
Age:
29
Project Name/Description:
Patricia Moos has a smile that can light up a room, and these days she is spreading joy to many young girls who find themselves in similar situations to her own early beginnings. The 29 -year-old law graduate owns her own fiduciary practice, but her spare time is dedicated to mentoring girls in care homes by providing them with inspiration, life experiences and direction for the time when they will age out of the social care system. Patricia knows this life all too well, having been in the Holy Cross Children’s Home since the age of eight. She later found a loving foster care home in Mitchells Plain, and the prospects of the diligent and enterprising young woman started developing. “While in primary school, I was awarded a high school scholarship. After high school, I received a bursary to study law at the University of the Western Cape,” she says. “During my five years at UWC, I founded the Girl-to-Girl Mentoring Programme,” she says. Patricia is a living example to these young girls of the potential that life holds. Her new project is a social club for Cape Town entrepreneurs from disadvantaged backgrounds. The club uses activities such as golf and padel to give them access to networks they would not ordinarily reach.
