Priscilla Mokgolo was 27 years old when she took up a position as a lecturer on a temporary basis at the Capricorn TVET College, Limpopo, in 2016. Two years later, she joined Mopani TVET College at the Sir Val Duncan Campus, Limpopo, as a lecturer. Now at 33, she enjoys her work, and is pleased for making an important contribution in the education sector. Mokgolo says education helps to eliminate ignorance, creating job opportunities for the young people, and “reduces ignorance”. “I am very passionate about teaching and sharing the knowledge I have acquired over the years with the youth, and shape them to become better citizens,” says Mokgolo. Mokgolo is an electrician, and holds a National Diploma in electrical engineering and an Advanced Diploma in TVET Education. In addition, she is an assessor and moderator. She intends studying further to improve her qualifications. Mokgolo, a staunch churchgoer, was born in Seshego, Polokwane. She acknowledges that gender inequalities, and need to be fought “with everything at our disposal”. “I am glad many opportunities are given to women, but more should be done to close the disparity gap,” she says. “Men need to accept that we are also humans and deserve to be respected.”
