Amodel, social entrepreneur and philanthropist, Sibongile Ndawo Engel, discovered early in her life that her purpose on earth was to assist others. Engel is the founder and director of Sibongithemba Medical Supplies. The firm supplies medical products for individuals with disabilities and old age citizens. Products range from wheelchairs, walking aids, bathroom aids, etc. “Our mission is to provide a high-quality level of customer service, medical experience, and commitment to health and wellness to all our customers,” Engel says. The model-cum entrepreneur says women should be empowered by investing in their organisations and businesses. “It is important to join entrepreneurial networks and connect with other entrepreneurs.” She is also a founder of the Sibongile Ndawo Engel Foundation where she empowers young girls and women who have long been discriminated against by society and made to believe they are inferior, to reclaim their power, have a voice and reach their full potential. She raises awareness on social issues such as gender-based violence, domestic violence and sexual abuse. The foundation also collects clothing, blankets, food and other necessities for underprivileged communities.
