Free State
Project Name/Description:
RTT Construction & Consulting Engineering Firm
When it comes to business, Thato Mokhothu is a resilient woman who believes that her role in the construction and engineering sector is felt in a big way. Born in Bloemfontein, Free State, Mokhothu is the managing director of RTT Construction & Consulting Engineering Firm, a company that is making strides in the industry across the province and beyond. Coming from a background of sales and marketing, she ventured into the maledominated industry armed with skills and knowledge on how to succeed in construction and engineering. While pulling strings at RTT, Mokhothu also ventured into other businesses in automotive, culinary and tourism. Mokhothu established RTT in 2012 and never looked back, and her vision opened more opportunities for her to explore and venture into other businesses. She employs 70 people. “I believe that when an opportunity presents itself for a person to flourish and spread their wings, you need to take that bold step to explore and reach for the sky. What I have learned is that once you get out of your comfort zone and face life with all that you have, clearly you will reap the rewards of success. I had to be hands-on to build RTT Construction & Engineering, as I knew that for the growth of the business I needed to work twice as hard and also get the necessary support from my team,” says Mokhothu. She says that she chooses to see the positive side in every situation as she believes in making strides in life in order for her to achieve more and the best. “I believe I should always be focused and drive my passion to the best of my ability, as I have realised that I needed to push to achieve success. Nothing is impossible if you have the drive and goals to achieve the best. I always encourage other women to get feisty and push harder for their dreams,” she says. Apart from RTT, Mokhothu is also a shareholder at Tyremart Fitment Centre Estoire in Bloemfontein and Khathu in the Northern Cape, as well as being a business partner at Food and Beverage Institution, a culinary school. She is also a reality TV show star, as she stars on Moja Love’s Boss Lady reality show.
