Selinah Khutso Ntjana began her journey in farming in 2011 after meeting her husband, Phuthi Ntjana, who introduced her to the field. She continues to invest in research on the management of Boer goats and the benefits of goat milk.
Ntjana has become an influential educator, teaching farming beginners and children about goats through the books she is writing. Since 2021, she has initiated educational projects for children, showcasing agro-processing to instil knowledge and passion for agriculture.
Although she extends her teaching to older individuals, her primary focus is on the younger generation.
In addition, Ntjana has learned to produce skincare products from goat milk. Reflecting on her nomination, she remarked, “This nomination is not just about my accomplishments; it is about empowering future generations of black women in agriculture and agro-processing. I am committed to paving the way for others and creating opportunities for them to succeed.”
She is dedicated to integrating agricultural science into the regular curriculum at crèches and schools, targeting children to inspire an early interest in farming. Ntjana also mentors and trains youth on product diversification and value addition through processing, such as creating goat milk skincare products.
