Shwa has heard and seen it all. The Miss SA Organisation made an announcement recently stating its “rules” have apparently changed for the better. But Shwa doesn’t share this opinion.
Let’s break it down – all women can now compete for the title – this includes straight, trans, queer, large, small, short, tall or married, and with or without children.
Shwa is not discriminating but why are married women taking part in Miss SA when they have their own pageant, which is Mrs SA?
Shwa is just failing to understand the logic behind all these changes.
A very important question is, how is it still going to be called Miss SA? A Mrs is certainly not a Miss, and the trans, queer community have pronouns that they
insist being respected, right?
Me thinks this is just one big mess!
Organisers should know that they are heading for an epic fail.
Also, what happens now when one of these newbies, who is not a Miss, wins? How will they now compete for Miss World or Miss Universe – because, yes, Mzansi has so much freedom, but not all other countries are like ours. And you know what else, Shwa can bet a million dollars that Mzansi will have a trans winner because Shwa knows South Africa will want to be a trendsetter and be the first African country to do this.
Just a thought… Why can’t the trans community have their own pageant? And the divorcees and single mothers too. Hell! Let each one have a pageant of their own – like who is not sick of these meaningless competitions.
Also, it’s just been a few days since the auditions opened but gossip girl has seen how people are already cyberbullying those who have started entering in the past.
There have been so many Miss SA winners who did not need to twang to make an impact in the community. And why are people still expected to send in videos to enter? Covid is over and exposing these girls to public scrutiny and online bullying in order to become Miss SA is not on, many will not even bother entering.
We all don’t come from the same background and there is absolutely no need for people to bash each other on social media based on social upbringing. It is just stooping low, and Shwa does not condone it at all.
