Saftas organisers, I truly commend you
The 17th annual South African Film and Television Awards (Saftas) took place at the weekend to honour and celebrate the best in South Africa’s film and television industry. Shwa must commend the organisers of the red carpet as it really was proper – and there was order. Shwa just wishes it was not so far away but big ups for making the stars wait in a line to pass through the red carpet.
The awards were hosted by Lawrence Maleka … again. Yah, I know!
Former Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi was the co-host. But Shwa thinks Zozibini should just stick to being a beauty queen as presenting is not for her.
Leading up to the main broadcast, the red carpet was presented by Pamela Mtanga and Thabiso Makhubela.
Thulani Shange, what in hell were you wearing? Did you think you were going to a skhothani party? Sometimes you need to take yourself seriously as an actor, even though you’re not nominated.
Craig Urbani, that happy dance you did there when you heard you had won, made you seem like a child who had just stumbled into a candy store.
Lerato Mvelase, you have been in the industry for as long as Shwa can remember and when you said this is the year of your life, I believe you. I guess that outfit you had on, which had everyone talking, was to show that life indeed begins at 40.
Skeem Saam’s Hellen Motsuki and Lebohang Elephant were serving couple goals off screen with Hellen rocking an orange sexy number.
Londie London, are you going to drag your bae everywhere, or is he just the type who wants to be everywhere with you to track your movements?
Generations: The Legacy cast, why was your styling being done in-house? Was this a budget problem or did you not want any disasters on the carpet?
Bonko and Lesego Khoza, who are brand new parents, were out on a date night taking time off from the newborn. At least you guys tried with your outfits this time.
Rosemary Zimu: that dress: what was going on?
Mandla N, are you going to drag Miss SA contestant Melissa everywhere?
Wanda Zuma and Shalate Sekhabi, when are you going public with that relationship, and what happened to Ayanda Nzimande?
Kgomotso Christopher, Shwa wants to be like you when she grows older.
Rami Chuene, we love your playful spirit so do encourage your colleagues to lighten up.
Vuyo Biyela and Clement Maosa, thank you for putting an effort into the dress code, unlike some who went to Oriental Plaza.
Lastly, can we stop honouring people with lifetime awards when they are no more? Give people their flowers when they are alive.
