Work, play and fun should never be separated from godliness. Shwa set out with earthly friends on Easter Monday to attend a jazz shindig organised by St Joseph’s Men’s Guild of the Anglican parish church of St Mary’s, Orlando East
this after the Sunday’s Feast of Resurrection, welcoming back Jesus to an earthly miserable life of loadshedding and high rate of unemployment and poverty, after surviving the Good Friday execution, or crucifixion.
The compère extraordinaire was none other than Bongani Drama Nomcweya, a devoted church member of the church, and one-time chorister of the same assembly.
Wow, what a raconteur he is, keeping the faithful in stitches. Not to say a word about his capacity to keep church revellers on the dance floor, almost like as long as eternity. Shwa must confess, the man is unequalled and can match, pound for pound, any MC inside the church or outside of it.
The man deserves bells as far as Shwa’s unbiased assessment goes. Jazz enthusiasts ate, literally, from his palm.
The half-day excursion from midday to early evening was worth the trouble.
