Chery South Africa has expanded its Tiggo 7 line-up with the introduction of the Distinction Dark Edition, priced at R415,900.
The new derivative adds blacked-out styling, more safety equipment and a six-speed dual-clutch transmission to the five-seat family SUV.
Exterior changes include a dark-finished grille, black window surrounds, 18-inch black alloy wheels and rear privacy glass. Buyers can choose between khaki white, carbon black, phantom grey and a black-and-white two-tone finish.

The darker treatment continues inside with black faux-leather upholstery and a faux-leather multifunction steering wheel offering four-way manual adjustment.
Power comes from Chery’s familiar 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, producing 108kW and 210Nm. However, the continuously variable transmission previously fitted to the Distinction has been replaced by a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
The Tiggo 7 competes in South Africa’s crowded compact SUV segment against models such as the Toyota Corolla Cross, Volkswagen T-Roc, Haval Jolion, Jetour X70 Plus and Hyundai Creta.
Power is directed to the front wheels, while Eco, Normal and Sport driving modes allow drivers to adjust the vehicle’s responses. Chery claims a combined fuel consumption of 6.9 litres per 100 km on the WLTP cycle.
One of the more substantial specification upgrades is an increase from four to seven airbags, including side-curtain protection. Other safety features include tyre-pressure monitoring, rear parking sensors, an alarm and a reversing camera with dynamic guidelines.
The dashboard houses two connected 12.3-inch displays serving as the digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen. Apple CarPlay, voice commands, a six-speaker audio system, dual-zone climate control and keyless entry are standard.
The Dark Edition also receives a power-operated tailgate with smart-key functionality.
Measuring 4,553mm long and riding on a 2,670mm wheelbase, the newcomer retains the dimensions and packaging of the existing Tiggo 7.

It is covered by a five-year or 150,000km vehicle warranty and a five-year or 75,000km service plan. The first owner receives Chery’s 10-year or one-million-kilometre engine warranty, with the remaining cover transferable to a second owner through the company’s approved pre-owned programme.
