WC accounts for more than half of SA’s 10652 COVID-19 cases

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases have surged to 10 652 with 206 deaths, said health minister, Zweli Mkhize.

The Western Cape continues to be the epicentre of the virus, recording 453 new cases – taking its overall total to 5621. Eastern Cape registered 163 new cases, with the province now home to 1356 cases.


Gauteng has 1971 cases, while KwaZulu-Natal has 1372 confirmed cases and the Free State with 135.
Mpumalanga has 63 cases, Limpopo 54, North West 50 and Northern Cape 30.

COVID-19 numbers continue to surge across the globe with more than four million people having tested positive for the deadly virus and nearly 300 000 deaths.
The World Health Organisation said last week that as many as 44 million people in Africa could contract the virus if government’s don’t take preventative measures.
