Former Muvhango actress Tebogo Thobejane is still traumatised after her vehicle was shot at multiple times by unknown gunmen in Sandton on Tuesday night.
Thobejane escaped unscathed but a friend she was traveling with was wounded and is being treated in the hospital.
The actress was also admitted to the Life Fourways Hospital in Johannesburg for shock shortly after the incident, which happened just after 9pm in Morningside.
A friend of the media personality told Sunday World that Thobejane, her friend, and the driver of the vehicle were on their way home following dinner with other friends in Morningside when gunmen sprayed their vehicle with bullets.
“They had just had drinks and dinner with a few friends. She was traveling in her BMW and was seated at the back with a friend,” said a friend.
“Another friend was driving behind them in her car. The attackers overtook the friend’s vehicle, got in-between the two cars, and opened fire at Tebogo’s vehicle from behind.
“[The gunmen] shot at Tebogo and her friend who were seated at the back seat of the car.”
Friend shot and hospitalised
Another source said Tebogo and the driver were not hurt, but her friend was hit and was rushed to the hospital.
“Her car is riddled with bullets from the back. The friend is not okay at all. She is in a very bad state and Tebogo is still traumatised,” said the source.
The media personality was not immediately available to speak to Sunday World.
Police spokesperson in Gauteng Mavela Masondo had not replied to Sunday World’s enquiry at the time of publishing.
However, he promised to provide more details later in the day.
The shooting occurred a few months after Thobejane told Sunday World in an exclusive interview that she had to relocate to another country for her safety following threats to her life.
In the interview, the actress said: “I can’t afford to get bodyguards … I have had to change my son’s school and rearrange my whole life.”
It is believed that the actress is currently in the country for a short visit.
