The department of health has confirmed that SA has it’s first COVID-19 deaths.
According to Minister of Health Zweli Mkhize, two people have died from the virus in the Western Cape.
The department added that one patient is from a public hospital while the other was in a private facility.
Today, marks the first day of South Africa’s lockdown.
Mkhize also added that the numbers of infection have now tipped the 1000 mark.
