Justice was finally served for deceased teacher Busisiwe Jaki after the man she was in love with was sentenced to life for her brutal murder.
Kamogelo Molorwe, 25, was convicted by the high court in North West for stabbing the 34-year-old Jaki in June 2022.
The stabbing took place inside a house in the presence of the teacher’s child who was aged four at the time of the murder.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Adéle Myburgh, the couple had a heated argument that escalated to the stabbing incident. Molorwe ran away after the stabbing but was captured later the same day.
“The convict was found guilty on Monday, 5 June 2023, after pleading guilty,” said Myburgh.
Lieutenant-General Sello Kwena lauded the investigating officer, Sergeant Masego Kgake of Mogwase detectives, and the prosecutor, advocate Jessica Molefe, for their collaboration and dedication that resulted in the conviction.
Kwena said the sentence will send a message that crime, including gender-based violence and femicide, will not be tolerated.
