Fight between friends leaves Fleurhof matriculant dead

An 18-year-old matriculant was fatally stabbed in Fleurhof, Johannesburg after a fight broke out between friends.

Jabulile Hope Mhluzi was a part of a fracas that ensued between groups of teenagers on Tuesday afternoon.

Reports say Mhluzi and her friend were admitted to the hospital after they were stabbed during a fight, however, Mhluzi succumbed to stab wounds. Her friend is still fighting for her life in the hospital’s intensive care unit.

Police have not established the motive for the fight between the two groups and an investigation into the murder and attempted murder is continuing.

Meanwhile, a grade 10 learner was found dead on a rugby field at Hoërskool Garsfontein in Pretoria on Monday. The learner’s lifeless body was discovered by the school’s security officers. How she ended up in the school premises is still a subject for investigation.

While visiting the school on Tuesday, Gauteng MEC for education Matome Chiloane called on police to leave no stone unturned in their search for the perpetrator.

Chiloane said the deceased’s parents confirmed that the teenager was at home after midnight, but when they woke up on Monday morning, she was nowhere to be found.

“Police have ruled her death as unnatural. Of concern is access, because she gained access into the school but we don’t know how,” Chiloane said.
