Malema foots Shebeshxt’s medical bills after fatal accident

EFF leader Julius Malema has come to the rescue of controversial rapper Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke and helped pay for his medical bills.

Sunday World can reveal that Chauke, popularly known by his stage name Shebeshxt, was admitted to the Polokwane Provincial Hospital after he was involved in a car accident.

The accident, which claimed the life of Shebeshxt’s nine-year-old daughter, happened on the R37 Road next to the Smelters Mine in Limpopo on Saturday night.

Tidimalo Chuene, the spokesperson for the transport department in Limpopo, confirmed on Sunday that the nine-year-old child could have passed away at the scene of the crash.

According to Chuene, the accident was reported just after 10pm, and Shebeshxt was treated for serious injuries on the scene before being transported to the hospital.

Left unattended for hours

A source known to Sunday World said Shebeshxt was left unattended for hours on end at the public hospital.

“Shebeshxt does not have medical aid, so they took him to a public hospital, where he was not assisted for some time,” said the source.

“Fearing that he could lose his life, Julius Malema was then called, and he demanded that Shebe be taken to Netcare Pholoso Hospital, a private healthcare facility in Polokwane, to get medical help.”

Malema is said to be handling the rapper’s medical bills, which are running into hundreds of thousands, as he recovers from his injuries.

In videos shared widely on social media platforms, the body of the girl can be seen lying covered next to the Volkswagen Polo, which is damaged on the side.

In another video, the rapper can be seen lying on the ground while emergency medical services’ staff treats his injuries.

Lucky escape

This is the second serious car accident that Shebeshxt has been involved in since the year started.

In January, he was lucky to escape unscathed in an accident that left his new Golf GTI written off.

In videos shared on social media at the time, the Monate hitmaker can be seen removing his belongings from the damaged vehicle.

      • Only if he had divided the money he used to buy a brand new GTI in such a way that he could afford a car that “could take him to work” and a medical aid simultaneously… like, a brand new GTI is around R550k, so he could buy a R400k car then use the R150k for medical aid premiums… but then again, thinking ain’t one of his strengths….
