In a week when lions roared and circled with demands and ultimatums, the buffalo stood his ground – firm, measured, and presidential. Â
With the full weight of the Constitution behind him, Ramaphosa made it clear that executive authority is neither outsourced nor negotiated at gunpoint. Â
His decision to dismiss a DA deputy minister was a demonstration of leadership, not arrogance. Â
Even when handed a 48-hour ultimatum, he did not flinch. Â
Instead, he reminded all partners in the government of national unity that consultation is a courtesy, not an obligation. Â
 Mr President, South Africa saw its head of state in action.Â
