The zama zamas and their operations are a threat to the country’s well-being.
We are not a banana republic. We have laws and we as a nation should be intolerant to any form of illegality. The government must come to the party, and immediately seal off disused mines/shafts to inhibit and end zama zama operations.
Nearly 20 people died, including children. The gas cylinder used in the illegal operations leaked at the Angelo informal settlement in Boksburg and innocent people inhaled the deadly nitrate oxide.
