In the same breath, we need to call out the louts, for that is what they are, who tried to steal election material and those who lost such material in what we must say increasingly looked like some clumsy, amateurish way to tarnish the image of the IEC and with it the credibility of the elections. Â
Some of these people were caught on film transporting ballot boxes and what was suspected to be ballot papers, to God knows where. Some even lost or tried to steal a ballot box right under the noses of the IEC at Gallagher Estate, where the main results operation centre was run. It was an audacious attempt at sabotaging elections and was guaranteed to make news because of where it happened. Â
Thank God that the IEC kept its cool and had its eye firmly on the ball to keep the integrity of the elections beyond doubt.Â
