Moegoe: Tshifhiwa Matodzi
Tshifhiwa Matodzi, who was this week jailed for his part in the looting and collapse of VBS Mutual Bank, is a disgrace to humanity. The same applies to his band of fellow looters who stole the life savings of poor, mostly rural-based senior citizens to finance a life of bling.
As chairperson of VBS, Matodzi had the responsibility to safeguard the finances of people who had worked hard to create a better life for themselves and their families. He was given the responsibility to lead and grow an institution founded by African people to escape the clutches of an oppressive, racist system.
But the thief couldn’t see beyond shiny sedans and bubbly. He chose to steal from the poor. A top class moegoe.
