President Cyril Ramaphosa on Tuesday unveiled landmark statues of struggle icons, former President Nelson Mandela, and former African National Congress President Oliver Reginald Tambo.
The 10-metre statues have been erected in prominent and accessible locations in eThekwini Municipality.
The structures celebrate the historic contribution both leaders made to the country’s liberation and democracy.
Municipal officials say the statues are part of eThekwini’s commitment to promote Durban as a heritage tourism destination, while highlighting its rich cultural legacy.
