Popular pastor arrested for sexually abusing young girl

Word House Global Church’s apostle Jackson Mokoena has spent the weekend in holding cells as he stands accused of sexual harassment of a pupil.

However, the case was not placed on the court roll because the National Prosecuting Authority asked the police to obtain more evidence from the victim before enrolling it.

Mokoena was arrested by the Protea Glen police after the victim’s mother, a prominent motivational speaker, opened a case of sexual harassment against him.

Speaking to Sunday World, the victim’s mother, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said Mokoena caressed and tried to kiss her daughter on different ocassions.

She said Mokoena offered to take the kids out of the house regularly, saying he did not want them to always stay at home and think about her and her husband’s divorce.

While this continued for some time, she said, she did not imagine that Mokoena was salivating over her daughter.

She said that she only realised that something was amiss when her daughter’s grades were dropping at school and she had suddenly developed a moody character around the house.

During this time, her son, who would also go out with Mokoena, showed no changes because the man of the cloth would allegedly ask him to leave whenever he wanted to pull a move on his sister.

She said her daughter told her that one day, when they were driving in his vehicle, Mokoena caressed her thighs.

Also, when they were at a venue, he would insist on wanting to kiss her daughter.

“The opening-up session was heartbreaking for me, and I knew we had to act on the matter immediately.

“After several attempts to get my daughter to open up to me without success, she decided to finally come to me on her own free will and told me that she had been sexually assaulted.

“When she revealed that Jackson was the perpetrator, I was taken aback. I did not believe it because I could not understand how someone I trusted so much with my children would do that,” said the mother.

“What frustrated me the most was that we know him as a man of God, and this was unexpected from such a person.

“My children were both happy when he offered to take them out, only to find that he had a hidden agenda to prey on my daughter, who is doing matric.,” the mother said.

“I fail to understand what he expected because she is really just a child and he is an old man,” she added.

After hearing everything about the abuse, the mother immediately called Mokoena, feigning a need for help.

She led him to the police station, where they had already opened a case, leading to his immediate arrest.

Gauteng police spokesperson, Mavela Masondo, confirmed that a case of sexual harassment was opened at Protea -police -station, in Soweto, and a suspect was arrested.

South Gauteng National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, Phindi Mjonondwane, said the case was not placed on the roll because they wanted to obtain more evidence from the victim before enrolling it.

“Further investigations are needed and the matter will be brought back to court once those investigations have been completed,” she said.

Mokoena denied that he was arrested and said some people were trying to extort money from him.
