Former Gagasi FM presenter Penny Ntuli is having a baptism of fire in Johannesburg after she was involved in two freak car accidents this week.
The popular radio host, who moved from Durban to join Jozi FM in Johannesburg recently, shared that hours after collecting her luxurious BMW at home, it was involved in an accident.
The brand-new vehicle was hit by trees that fell from a truck on the motorway while she was parked on the side of the road.
“Today I decided to drive my car to Johannesburg because I was getting used to this place. Next thing out of nowhere on the motorway, a log fell from the truck, and it came straight at me,” she said.
Wednesday night scare
After her ordeal on Sunday, the presenter was dealt another blow on Wednesday night when the car’s brakes failed.
“In my seven years of driving, I have never had an accident or been in an accident, but I don’t know this one.
“Yesterday night, when I parked the car in the yard, I noticed the car going in the opposite direction.
“When I applied the brakes and [tried to pull up] the handbrake, it just went into a ditch and was damaged in one place,” she said.
The Jozi FM radio host shared pictures of the damaged car on her Instagram page, saying that she is happy to be alive.
R2 800 month’s salary
Ntuli recently made headlines after leaving Gagasi FM over a month’s salary of R2 800, which raised an uproar.
She was offered a radio hosting gig at Jozi FM, where she is the host of the station’s Mid-Morning Chat show from 9am to 12pm from Monday to Friday.
After hiring her, Jozi FM CEO Mpho Mhlongo said: “We hired her because of the gift she has and the different talents that she has. So, for us, we wanted to allow her to do what she has been gifted to do.
“She is an inspiration to many people if you understand her background.”
Mhlongo said Ntuli’s experience in the field, where there are few opportunities, makes it simple for many people to take inspiration from her.
