Senzo Meyiwa murder trial adjourned until Monday

The Senzo Meyiwa murder trial has been adjourned until Monday to allow defence lawyer, Zandile Mshololo, to consult.

This week, Constable Sizwe Zungu, who is a state witness, found himself in a three-day hot seat when he was crossed examined.

Mshololo told the court that she is far from done with her cross examination because she must still view the photos from a memory stick.

State prosecutor advocate George Baloyi said he had intentions to make contact with a police officer, who is a cellphone analyst, to testify on downloads from the phones of accused number two and accused number five, but says his report was only recovered on Friday.

At this point advocate Mshololo requested for two days to go through the downloads from her client’s phone.

Accused number five, Fisokuhle Ntuli, testified that he was not in Vosloorus the day Meyiwa was shot and killed.

Picture evidence surfaced of Ntuli and accused number three, Mthobisi Mncube, at the George Goch hostel in Johannesburg, which was taken at about 5.30pm on the day Meyiwa was murdered.

Continuing in her cross examination, Mshololo said that on the date in question, Ntuli said he was at work in Johannesburg up until 1pm, before he went to his flat and later to George Goch Hostel.

Meyiwa was shot and killed in an alleged home invasion at his then-girlfriend Kelly Khumalo’s home in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg on October 26 2014.

Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Bongani Ntanzi, Maphisa, and Ntuli are being tried for the murder of Meyiwa.

They have pleaded not guilty to charges of premeditated murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravated circumstances, possession of firearms without a licence, and possession of ammunition.

The trial continues
