Old demons are coming back to haunt musician Lehlogonolo “Shebeshxt” Chauke while he is down.
As the singer lays his daughter to rest in Lebowakgomo, seems like there is no end in sight for his pain. His mourning period is made even harder as he is expected to appear in court next month for a separate incident.
The Monateng hitmaker is scheduled to appear at the Lebowakgomo magistrate’s court on July 12 for a case that was opened against him in 2022.
According to Limpopo National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, the singer is currently out on bail and will be in court for trial.
“The matter is set down for plea and trial for 11 July 2024 at the Lebowakgomo regional court D,” Malabi-Dzhangi said.
Allegedly stabbed a man in Lebowakgomo
Malabi-Dzhangi previously told Sunday World that a case was opened against Chauke after he allegedly stabbed a man in Lebowakgomo.
The star was released on bail.
On Saturday, he is set to attend the burial of his daughter Onthatile Chuene. The nine-year-old passed away two weeks ago when they were involved in an accident. Chauke was driving the car when the accident occurred. He is still being treated for injuries sustained in the accident.
This week family spokesperson and Chauke’s lawyer, Lot Ramusi, spoke to Sunday World. He said that the family has requested his medical team to release him to attend his daughter’s burial on Saturday.
Survived an accident that claimed daughter’s life
Shebeshxt survived a fatal car accident in Limpopo two weeks ago, which claimed the life of his daughter.
Ramusi said the singer is no longer in critical care and has been moved from the hospital’s intensive care unit.
He said: “He is out of the ICU, he has a moonboot on his leg. [Chauke] is recovering quite well. He can talk and he can actually even stand up. For now he is just focused on his recovery.”
Shebeshxt was traveling to his girlfriend’s home where he was going to drop her and his daughter off before making his way to an ANC Siyanqoba rally celebration concert in Lebowakgomo when the musician’s car they collided with a truck.
