Sparks fly as SABC managers battle over Ba2cada reinstatement

Popular Lesedi FM radio presenter Nyakallo “Ba2cada” Leine is expected to be back on air tomorrow to co-present his morning show, Monate Breakfast with Seipati “Twasa” Seoke following his fallout with management last month.

News of his return was leaked by sources in the station’s corridors in Bloemfontein and Auckland Park in Johannesburg.

Sunday World understands that the multi-award-winning radio host will be back on air after being yanked off by the programmes manager, Mannini Nyokong.

A deep throat at the station whispered to Sunday World that SABC radio general
manager Siphelele Sixaso instructed Nyokong to bring back Leine on air tomorrow,
saying that failure to do so would have dire consequences.

Insiders claim that Nyokong protested when Sixaso ordered her to do as instructed.
“On Wednesday, Siphelele told Mannini that she should swallow her pride and bring back Ba2cada on air and that on Monday, he should be at work.

Siphelele told Mannini that failure to do so, she would be dealt with as she would be defying her boss’s instructions and that if she was hellbent on defying him, she must be the one who must voetsek instead of Ba2cada,” said an insider at Lesedi FM in Bloemfontein.

It is understood that Nyokong protested and demanded that Leine be hauled before a disciplinary hearing. However, according to our deep throat, Sixaso protested and told her that the whole drama had created serious ructions for Lesedi FM and the SABC, since Sunday World broke the story.

“Since your publication broke the story, things turned bad for the station and the SABC, as many people got angry and even threatened to boycott Lesedi FM. Mannini wanted to
defy orders but Siphelele reminded her that she was not going to be a law unto herself, and if she thought that the SABC was going to take flak over the drama surrounding the station and Ba2cada, she must think again, or else she will be dealt with,” said a source in Auckland Park.

It is understood that Nyokong became miserable after she was told by Sixaso that she must toe the line or face repercussions.

“Mannini was in a jovial mood on Wednesday morning while she was at work but after she had a lengthy phone call from Siphelele, her jolly mood changed, and she became angry and moody,” the source said.

A fortnight ago, Sunday World reported that Nyokong had yanked Leine off air after he went AWOL for two days in December.

This was after claims surfaced that he did not want to work with his colleague Thabo “Bundle of Joy” Mokone to co-host the popular Monate Breakfast.

Leine later went to leave from January 1 to 17, and when he came back on January 20, Nyokong reportedly ordered him not to dare be on air as he needed to explain why he had gone AWOL.
