Ntseki is not the solution to Chiefs problems – Junior Khanye

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder and renowned football analyst Junior Khanye has weighed in on the debate whether Molefi Ntseki is the right coach to take Amakhosi to the promised land and bring back the glory days.

Chiefs surprised all and sundry when they announced the appointment of former Bafana Bafana and SA Under-17 national coach as the head of the club.

The club also stated on Wednesday evening that Arthur Zwane will now serve as assistant coach together with Dillon Sheppard.

The announcement drew mixed reaction with some fans requesting that Ntseki be given a chance to prove himself and that he may be the right man to end the club’s eight-year trophy drought.

However, others were scathing in their remarks and mentioned that Ntseki does not have the qualities to coach the Glamour Boys.

Junior Khanye told Sunday World: “I am not sure how Chiefs arrived at that decision to choose Ntseki. Ntseki is not good enough to be head coach of Chiefs, I said the same about Stuart Baxter, about Gavin Hunt and even Arthur Zwane, and people were on my case and they chastised me.

“I know he is highly qualified with coaching certificates, but he is not that good practically. There’s a huge difference between qualifications and coaching on the field.”

Khanye explained further: “The problem with Chiefs started when they got rid of Ted Dumitru around 2004. Coach Ted had a skillful team that was playing fantastic football.

“We had the likes of Emmanuel ‘Scara’ Ngobese, Jabu ‘Shuffle’ Mahlangu, myself, Thabo Mooki, Arthur ‘10111’ Zwane himself and other players who were special.

“We were coached by a clever coach in Dumitru, but now things have gone worse. I do not think Ntseki can rescue Chiefs from its problems or that he can bring back the glory days.

“I watched him coach the SA Under-23 and Bafana Bafana and I did not see anything special. I was not convinced at all. Does he know the culture of the club, did he play for the club and does he know what it means to wear that jersey?

“These are the questions I have been asking myself, is he the solution? I do not think so at all. However, maybe he can prove us wrong. Let us see what he brings on the table.”
