Medical grade cannabis works so well for many ailments such as pain, inflammation, epilepsy, autoimmune disease and certain cancers.
This is according to Dr Shiksha Gallow, who was commenting about the upcoming Cannabis Expo.
Gallow, who is a cannabis clinician, said many people are not aware that humans were born with the endocannabinoid system, noting that this system plays a crucial role in regulating homeostasis, which means balance.
She, however, advised the public to seeks proper medical cannabis from a medical professional who understands drug interactions and cannabis strains.
“Smoking cannabis combusts at over 900 degrees and this can cause irritation to the lung and release toxic byproducts,” said Gallow.
“As a cannabis clinician, I also recommend patients rather take cannabis in oil format instead of smoking it when treating specific medical conditions.”
The organiser of the expo, Silas Howarth, confirmed that the event will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre from November 24-26.
Industry still in its relative infancy
“There has never been a better time to get involved in the cannabis industry in South Africa,” said Howarth.
“This year’s event is an invaluable opportunity to learn about the latest products, trends and regulations, as well as to network with industry leaders.
“There is so much excitement around, and interest in the local cannabis industry because of the huge potential we have as a region for producing quality cannabis and cannabis products at an affordable price, to supply an ever-growing local and international demand.”
Howarth added that the cannabis industry is still in its relative infancy.
“This provides for so many new opportunities as we look to more established international markets where legalisation has been a reality for longer, and as local legislation further opens up to benefit the cannabis industry, the growth and opportunities skyrocket.
“The expo will bring together thousands of cannabis industry professionals, investors and entrepreneurs from all around the world to explore the latest innovations, trends and business opportunities in the cannabis industry.”
