Eyadini Lounge owner Thamsanqa Jabulani “Mjay” Zama, who passed away at the weekend, will be buried on Saturday.
Zama’s funeral service will take place at The Station Urban Venue in Durban before his burial at the Queensburgh Cemetery.
The memorial service, where the flamboyant businessman’s life will be celebrated, is scheduled to take place in Umlazi W Oasis Church on Thursday afternoon.
Zama, fondly known as Jigga Money by those close to him, passed on at the age of 47 after it was initially reported that he suffered a severe stroke.
In a statement on Saturday afternoon, the family said Eyadini Lounge would be closed until further notice.
On Monday, it announced that it would be accepting in-person condolences at home in Umlazi in line with isiZulu tradition and norm.
Zama was a visionary entrepreneur who built a prime entertainment hub that helped put Umlazi on the global map. He has been described as a joyous person who was full of love.
In his condolence message, KwaZulu-Natal economic development, tourism, and environmental affairs MEC Siboniso Duma gave credit to the businessman for boosting Umlazi’s tourism and providing employment opportunities to the youth.
Zama was a self-made businessman who started his career in law enforcement as a policeman.
He later moved into the tow truck business before he bought a property in 2009 which had been used as an auto repair scrapyard.
That was the beginning of the popular joint Eyadini Lounge, which was built on the property.
